End of Season Run 28/29th September 2013

End of Season Run 28/29th September 2013
(organised by Maurice and Cherith McKeown)

At 9.30am on a sunny Saturday morning 12 cars arrived at the starting point in the Main Street in Aughnacloy. We were welcomed there by Maurice and Cherith who presented us with route maps for the weekend, aptly named "A touch of Monaghan and a splash of Fermanagh". They also gave us a copy of the now traditional Saturday quiz.

We set off from Aughnacloy at 10.00am and made our way to Rally School Ireland, near Scotstown in Monaghan. There we received a very warm welcome from the two brothers who run the operation, David and Malachy Smyth. Food was first on the agenda and we were kindly allowed us to use their excellent canteen facilities where we enjoyed some tasty scones and cake supplied by Cherith and Mildred. This was followed by a tour of their impressive garage and workshop where we were shown the wide range of cars that they have available. We were then taken to the viewing gallery to see some of the cars in action on the track. Several of our members and their wives were fortunate to be given a trip around the track by David Smyth during which he demonstrated some very useful fast cornering techniques. After photos with the David, Malachy and their staff and some photos of our cars it was unfortunately time to go. What a super place with such great people, we could not praise them highly enough.

County Antrim Run 2013

We assembled in blistering sunshine at 1.00pm at Hazelbank carpark, Newtownabbey.  There was a good turnout of 10 cars. Light refreshments and snacks were provided there before setting off on the run (although unfortunately the wasps were equally keen on eating the food).

Our first stop was Knockagh Monument which provided excellent views of Belfast Lough and the surrounding countryside. From there we made our way through Ballyclare and on to Slemish. As you can see from the some of the photos a few members did at least attempt to climb a little way up the mountain. Leaving Slemish we made our way through the award winning village of Broughshane and on to the pictureques harbour at Glenarm were stopped for a few minutes for another photo. Travelling a few more miles along the coast road took us to our restaurant venue, the Halfway House Hotel in Ballygally where we all enjoyed an excellent meal.

Many thanks to all who took part and helped make this such a great club event!

Club Treasure Hunt held on Wednesday evening 3rd July 2013

Although the attendance was disappointing those who turned up had a most enjoyable evening (see photo). The treasure hunt which had been skillfully set by Neil Heaslip took the participants around the local countryside and presented them with some quite tricky clues. The winning team headed by Tom McKinney (see photo) managed to get all the correct answers! Congratulations to them! On completion of the treasure hunt all enjoyed a picnic back at Moira Demense.

A very big thank you to Neil for organising this fundraising event.

Mosney 2013 - Event Report

Four cars from our club made the journey down to the Mosney Show on Sunday 9th June 2013. We have an open invitation each year from our friends in the Triumph Classic Owners Club to join them on their stand at this great event. It was an glorious day as can be seen from the photos, with hoods down the entire way there and back. The €10 entry fee got us tea and sandwiches for two plus a very useful exhibitor award. This year we had the choice of a footpump, an LED lamp or a thermos flask. So you most certainly get value for your entry money.

We had a excellent time there and were very well looked after by our southern Triumph friends who provided us with great burgers, biscuits and craic. Its just a pity more of our club members don't take part in this event.

Kilbroney 2013 - Event Report

Kilbroney - Saturday 15th June 2013

Unfortunately we didn't get the weather that we enjoyed at Mosney on the previous weekend, however it was signifciantly better than last year's since it was dry up until 12.30pm, and we then only had 3 heavy showers before it dried up again for the rest of the afternoon.

2012 Quiz Night

The 2012 quiz night will be held in the Four Trees in Moira starting at 8.00pm on Wed 7th November.

We would ask members for their support and encourage them to bring as many of their friends as possible. It will be a fun quiz which should provide a great evenings entertainment for all.

Treasure Hunt - Wed 1/8/2012

On our August club night (Wednesday 1st August) instead of meeting in the Ivory we will be holding a Treasure Hunt starting from Moira Demesne, just off the Main Street in Moira at 7.30pm. This is a great evenings' fun! We would very much appreciate your support as Neil Heslip has put a lot of effort into organising it. It is not necessary to bring your Triumph to take part.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Kilbroney 2012 Event Report

Saturday 16th June

Welly boots and a large umbrella were unfortunately the order of the day at Kilbroney this year as one heavy shower and another descended on this beautiful park.

Gerald and John had been there on the evening before to lay claim to what they considered to be a very generous size of stand. Despite the weather the stand was filled to capacity on Saturday with a total of 27 cars + 2 gazebos, our biggest ever turnout for this event. There were 16 cars from our club together with 11 cars from our good friends at TCOC (Triumph Classic Owners Club) in the South. Many thanks to them for turning out in such large numbers.

An excellent range of Triumphs was on display – TR3, TR4s, TR6s, TR7s, Stag, Spitfires, GT6, Heralds & Dolomite Sprint. (see photos below)

The women present deserve a very special thanks as they ensured that no one went hungry – with tea and scones on arrival, followed by a barbeque at 1.00pm which was finished off with apple tart.

The camaraderie and craic was great and a very enjoyable day was had by all. A big thank you to all who braved the elements to take part.
